Built in 1873 for Captain Tillinghast of the Oak Bluffs Land & Wharf Company, the house sits directly across from the Oak Bluffs Town Beach and boasts unobstructed views of Nantucket Sound, the Steamship Authority ferry dock and Cape Pogue Lighthouse on Chappaquiddick Island. Samoset-on-the-Sound is conveniently located only a few minutes walk from the Oak Bluffs business district, the picturesque harbor and ferry service to and from several ports.
